On the Road
Behind the Song
Some months back, I saw a video that was shot in India of a man who apparently is injured from what could be a gun shot or a hit-and-run driver. It was a major road. Several people rode by in their cars and bikes, pedestrians also seem to be in a hurry. A few pedestrians stopped to observe. Nobody moved close. Nobody did much. Only one or two persons waved at vehicles. An empty ambulance was waved but it sadly sped off. At the end it was but a social experiment. What if it was real? Well, he would have bled to death.
Few weeks ago, I read of a man who died while waiting to get food on credit. It was on twitter. It was easier for me to get the story as published by "The Street Journal". While people were asking was it true or was it untrue, I remembered the story of the "Good Samaritan".
This song is written to prick consciences and to encourage everyone who listens to it to be the "Good Samaritan"
. The Lyrics
Verse
You have my kind of eyes
but right in front of you
I am melting like ice
You don't know my name true
I'm very much like you
and you're on the road too
You're much in a hurry
but only time will tell
how much you'll be sorry
when body will smell
the reason I worry
there is no watch in hell
Chorus
Is it not you, who did not move?
Is it not you, looking idly by the grove
on the road
Is it not you who did not do what you could
Standing idly by uh uh uh uh
on the road
Bridge
On the road on the road
please don't leave me cold
on the road on the road
show you have a heart of gold
Kindly leave one of your "Good Samaritan" experiences in the comments. Thanks
